What kind of qualification the GED is

The GED is a high-school-equivalency qualification — a credential that certifies high-school-level academic skills across four subjects. It isn't a degree or a professional certification; it's the recognised equivalent of completing high school, earned by examination rather than by attending a fixed programme.

Its level and standing

In terms of level, the GED sits at the completion-of-secondary-schooling stage. In Pakistan, the IBCC recognises it as equivalent to HSSC (Intermediate) in the Humanities Group, provided its conditions are met — the equivalence is real but conditional, not automatic. What it's worth in Pakistan

Held with IBCC HSSC (Humanities) equivalence, the GED qualification opens university admission in Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Media, Design and Law — subject to each institution's own requirements. What it's worth abroad

Qualification, diploma, certificate — same thing?

People use these words interchangeably, but they aren't identical. The qualification is the GED itself; the GED diploma is the document you receive when you pass; and the terminology around a GED "certificate" is worth clarifying separately.
