"GED certificate," "GED certification," "equivalence certificate" — these get mixed up constantly, and the confusion causes real mistakes. Here's what each actually means in Pakistan.
Three terms people mix up
"Certificate" and "certification" get used loosely, so let's be precise. For the GED in Pakistan there are really two separate documents, plus a term that doesn't quite fit.
The two documents that matter
1. Your GED credential — commonly called the "GED certificate," but more precisely a GED diploma plus a transcript of your scores, issued through the GED system when you pass all four subjects.
2. The IBCC equivalence certificate — a separate document issued by the IBCC that recognises your GED as equivalent to HSSC (Humanities) for local university admission.
"Certification" isn't quite the right word
The GED isn't a professional "certification" in the sense of a skills licence. It's a high-school-equivalency qualification. If you've been searching "GED certification," what you're almost certainly after is the credential you earn by passing — and, for local use, its IBCC equivalence.
How to get your GED certificate

Authenticating it (2026 update)
As of 1 July 2026, the IBCC can authenticate the electronic e-Diploma and e-Transcript directly, so you no longer need printed copies for authentication. Always confirm the current steps on ibcc.edu.pk (source: GED Testing Service, ged.com Pakistan policy page).
