The four subjects

GED subjects in Pakistan: the four exams, and how to prepare

The GED is four subjects, each a separate exam. They're the same worldwide — what's Pakistan-specific is how they lead to IBCC Humanities equivalence. Here's each subject and where to prepare.

The four GED subjects

  • Mathematical Reasoning — applied number, algebra, geometry and data. Prep guide.
  • Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) — reading, grammar, and a written essay. Prep guide.
  • Science — reading data and reasoning about experiments. Prep guide.
  • Social Studies — civics, history, economics, geography and source reasoning. Prep guide.

Each is computer-based and taken separately. For the full structure, timing and formats, see the GED subjects page, and try the free practice preview.

What's the same — and what's Pakistan-specific

The subjects, content and scoring are the same globally. What's specific to Pakistan is the destination: passing all four (at least 145 each) earns the GED, and — for local use — you then apply to the IBCC, which recognises it as equivalent to HSSC in the Humanities Group once its conditions are met. That Humanities placement is why the GED opens Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Media, Design and Law locally, rather than Medical or core Engineering. The rules are on our IBCC equivalence guide.

How to approach preparation

Because you sit the subjects separately, you can clear your strongest first and put more time into the tougher ones. Start with a diagnostic to see where each stands, then work subject-by-subject. The full GED guide covers the whole pathway.
